Wanting to Make a Difference

In my search for many early childhood organizations, I stumble across "The Division for Early Childhood of the Council for Exceptional Children, (DEC)." (http://www.dec-sped.org/about)

This organizations focuses on the support of young children ages 0-8 with may have a special need or disability. The focus is to make sure that the children who may need help are receiving any and everything possible, and study what is all ready out their about them. The organization tries to ensure that the policies and procedures that are put into place actually support and help our children, they are an advocate for many individuals who may have or know someone who has a disability.

The Policy

"DEC is uniquely positioned to gather member and community input in order to send a strong message to political leadership and other stakeholders regarding proposed, amended, existing, and/or new legislation and regulations that have the potential to impact the children and families served through early intervention and early childhood special education (EI/ECSE) as well as the professionals that serve them. DEC provides members with access to numerous advocacy and political involvement opportunities such as: http://www.dec-sped.org/content.asp?contentid=154"
  • Grassroots organizing, networking, and the opportunity to take action-taking on issues through the Children’s Action Network (CAN)
  • The targeted work and collaboration of the Policy Recommendations Council
  • Leadership opportunities at the Subdivision level

It's nice to know that their are still organizations filled with people who have the mindset to help out children and their families.
