Consequences of Stress

As a child we experienced a lot and children today are experiencing a lot more. As a child I remember when their was an environmental pollution. We lived in Southwest, Detroit. We were surrounded by many factors. This particular time an explosion happened at the plant where some toxic waste was leaking their the air. I remember the smell being extremely strong, making it hard for you to breathe while being outside.
I can remember my mother saying stay in the house until the smell has cleared. The police was evacuating the area because of the harmful smell. As a result, my granddaddy made all of us pile up in the motor-home and we went on a short trip away from the area. My family dealt with this situation by sticking together and not allowing the children to see any fear or speak of any danger. The last thing they wanted to do was to scare us.

The developing countries are currently experiencing environmental pollution within their homes. The type of air pollution that is found to be harmful is called Biomass, which is a fuel that is in the wood and other materials within the household that causes upper and lower respiratory infections in children.

Due to the exposure to the air pollution is causes some delays in the development of children. Being exposed to chemical smells can cause a delay in the brain that may effect speech development, it can also cause a delay in physical development, the child may not be able to walk, lift his/her head or even move. Exposure to chemicals of any form is dangerous to the health and development of children and others who are exposed to it.
